The Center for Comfort Care & Healing

One of the most basic issues for end-of-life care is determining where your unique needs will best be met. If home is not the best option, what would make you and your loved ones feel most cared for and comfortable?

Following best practice regulations that were implemented in 2012, the Center for Comfort Care & Healing was built in 2015. The 36,000 square-foot Center for Comfort Care & Healing is the first hospice residence of its kind in Connecticut and is available to anyone in the U.S. Center residents benefit from 24/7 clinical care in private suites with screened-in balconies, wood furnishings and chef-prepared custom meals served on china. The environment replicates the comforts of home, where loved ones can focus on quality time together.

The Center’s hospice and palliative care-trained medical directors, physicians and APRNs are available day or night. In addition to nursing and comfort care, our interdisciplinary team of social workers, spiritual advisors and volunteers provide emotional and spiritual support and connection. The Center’s complementary therapies include gentle massage, sound healing, aromatherapy, Reiki and a Pet Partner Program.

Peace, Privacy and the Freedom to Choose

Some families find comfort and serenity in their private suite with their door closed. Others make every inch of our beautiful Center their home.

Most families need both — precious privacy for quiet times of sharing and bright open spaces to welcome family and friends, engage with our staff and volunteers, celebrate a birthday, eat a favorite meal or feel the sun on their skin in our beautiful perennial garden.

Respite for Caregivers

We know that the responsibility for a loved one’s care can be emotionally and physically draining. Sometimes patients would rather be in a setting where loved ones can instead focus on spending quality time together. Our residential Center makes this possible, allowing family and loved ones to meaningfully connect with patients as spouses, children, parents or friends, not as caregivers.

Gourmet Meals – Whatever You Crave

Food is a universal language that nurtures and connects. Our kitchen staff loves preparing nutritious home-cooked meals as well as happy comfort food! Special patient and family requests are always welcome.
